Spiritual Emphasis Week- God's Phone #
Today was the first day of Spiritual Emphasis Week. Our guest speaker, Mrs. Hinkle, spoke on the theme "What Does God Say to Me?"
Our students learned God's phone number...Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things." Mrs. Hinkle shared that someone more important than the president of The United States wants to talk to us. This person knows our name, calls us friend, pays attention to us, give really good gifts and listens to what we say. This person is God. God speaks to us through the Bible.
Mrs. Hinkle focused on the story of Hannah crying out to the Lord when she was deeply saddened. When Hanna prayed she told God how she felt. She shared her sadness with God. After praying Hannah was not sad anymore because God comforted her while she cried out to him.
Psalm 34:18 tells us, "God is near to the brokenhearted." Even though God knows when we are sad, he wants us to tell him how we are feeling.
What does God say to me when I am feeling sad? "I will comfort you."
Mrs. Hinkle is a wonderful speaker and an amazing ventriloquist. She and her friend, Minnie the bird, had the students laughing out loud. I sincerely invite you to join us tomorrow for day 2 of Spiritual Emphasis Week.
