#bcsfaces- Lauren Gibson, Music Teacher

#bcsfamiliesunited had the chance to catch up with BCS music teacher, wife, and mother of the cutest little boy on the planet- Lauren Gibson. We asked her to share her goals for the music program, her inspiration when choosing songs to teach the children, and her favorite songs to teach. Lauren's response will make you excited about the future for our children as they receive instruction in one of the most essential components of true worship!

"I like to choose songs for Chapel that say something about God's character. I use songs that are easy for kids to learn and sing, but still declare truth about Jesus. In music class, I talk to the children about what it means to worship Jesus-- how worship is not just what we do on Wednesday during chapel, but it's how we live and make choices each day! We can either choose to worship ourselves by living selfishly, or we can choose to worship God with selflessness. Students can worship Jesus by being kind to a classmate, or by respecting their parents even when they don't want to. I like to choose songs that help us bring a heart of worship into every moment of our lives, giving thanks always for the grace of Jesus Christ our Savior!

One song that I particularly love to sing with the students is "Majestic." Most of the song is taken from the Psalms, as it declares truths about why God is worthy of our praise. The bridge section of the song repeats "I will worship you," and then "we will worship you" over and over again. I love that we can all join together to commit to live worshipfully to God, and to help each other do so as well. It's a beautiful thing to see a room full of children, their parents, and teachers praising Jesus together!"
