Bethlehem Christian School Names New Head of School
(Bethlehem, PA) – Bethlehem Christian School has announced that Dr. Brenda Hillman will become its new Head of School effective July 1, 2018. Dr. Hillman was formerly the School Administrator of Iowa Christian Academy in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dr. Hillman is a lifelong learner with a passion for Christian education. She has extensive experience in school leadership, a tenacity to achieve, a desire for excellence, and a strong commitment to her Christian beliefs. In addition to her duties running Bethlehem Christian School, Dr. Hillman will focus on managing growth, mentoring faculty, long-range planning, and increasing public awareness.
According to Matthew Smith, president of the School Board, “We are very excited about the experience Dr. Hillman brings and her vision to build on our school's tradition of academic excellence and increase Bethlehem Christian's exposure in our community. The events and timing that have brought Brenda to BCS were clearly arranged by the Lord, and we are excited to see how she will be able to utilize her skills in the Lehigh Valley.”
Dr. Hillman has extensive experience in Christian education, having served as School Administrator of Iowa Christian Academy from 2011-2018. From 1998-2011, she served in various administrative roles at Shannon Forest Christian School, including the roles of Head of School from 2004-2011, Upper School Administrator from 2002-2004, Lower School Administrator from 2000-2002, and Athletic Director from 1998-2000. Prior to her time in Christian education, Dr. Hillman had 16 years of coaching and teaching experience at the collegiate level.
“I am humbled, yet excited, to be a part of Bethlehem Christian School and their longstanding tradition of partnering with parents in education from a biblical perspective,” says Dr. Hillman. “I am eager to be a part of educating children for the 21st Century thru the eyes of the Lord.”
Dr. Hillman holds a Doctorate in Education (2011) from Argosy University, a Master of Education Degree (1985) from Georgia Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Taylor University (1982).
Bethlehem Christian School was founded in 1979 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. BCS exists to assist Christian parents in their responsibility of training their children by providing a complete educational program that is Biblically sound, Christ-centered and of excellent academic standards. BCS seeks to equip students for Christian living by instilling Biblical principals of self-discipline, individual responsibility, personal integrity and good citizenship.
